The Beautiful Game

For my video project proposal, I decided to make my project about football, otherwise known in the United States as, soccer. I have a passion for it and I believe it would be fun to make a video out of something that I admire and find interesting. The title that I would give the video would be, “The Beautiful Game,” especially since soccer is often referred to as, “The Beautiful Game.” The genre would obviously be nonfiction as I will be talking about soccer through things that are known to be fact, although they may not be common knowledge. I would start my video by introducing my topic with a clip of the atmosphere that soccer brings, showing the passion that fans have toward the sport and showing the pressure that the players have by trying to do right for their fans. Next, I would begin to talk about soccer and how it is played, while the background is showing different clips of soccer highlights. I will give a detailed explanation on the strategies coaches bring to a match and mention the importance of a formation, the line up a team plays with to tactically defeat their opponent. Then, I would describe the importance soccer has to culture and how every time a game is on, people come together to share the experience with one another. I will be showing clips of the fans getting emotional over their team playing. I will talk about the effects it has had on politics and societies overall, mentioning how soccer even ended a civil war in the Ivory Coast, a country located in Africa. I will finally talk about how soccer has been getting bigger throughout the years and end off with explaining how it is only going to get bigger and better, especially at an international level, where the major international tournament, “The World Cup,” is expanding from thirty-two teams that are able to qualify to forty-eight teams that are able to qualify. This is only going to bring people closer together. Stadiums that are capable of holding eighty thousand fans are being expanded upon to hold even more as fan bases are increasing. My video will consist of many video clips of soccer, showing its brilliance and the beauty it has to offer, from people scoring goals and their celebrations, to fans being emotionally invested in a match. I will show how one goal could change the moral of one nation or a club. My target audience would be everyone as I would like to share some knowledge about “The Beautiful Game” for people who are willing to watch the video. Once I reach the end of the creation of my video, I will assume that it will be about five to six minutes in length. My objective is to educate people on things about soccer that they might have not known. I have a passion for it and I want others to understand why the passion for the sport exist all throughout the world.
Okay, I'm glad you've found something you are passionate about, but now...You have to do the work to figure out what it is that you care about soccer in particular. Do you remember the first soccer game you saw on TV or went to in person? Did you play soccer in school? How does your own cultural or social identity tie into soccer? Think of this project not as an attempt to convince the viewer about why soccer is an awesome game, but as an opportunity to understand yourself better. Look more deeply into what it is you love about this game specifically, and then see what you can remember about moments in your life when soccer played a key role. We'll talk more about this in your conference.
